Very few pilgrimages in India are lucky enough to witness lacks of visitors longing for them every day. Amarnath is, undoubtedly one of them. Holding in it, the abnormally large ice shivling (stalagmite) and the sacred story of Lord Shiva narrating Goddess Parvati, the secret to immortality is one of the 51 Shaktipeeth. The Yatra to the cave is not at all an easy one. It is a trek, fit to test one’s faith, devotion and also one's physique and endurance. The weather is a very crucial factor, given the fact that the cave is covered in snow, almost the entire year. Try to visit between May and September and avoid the harsh winters. To say the backdrop of the cave is breath-taking, is an understatement. Whether it be the snow-capped Himalayan view or the enchanting steep route to the cave, Amarnath is an unforgettable beauty.
